RWC Sports Uniform Design

Today we were completing a series of design lessons.
We have designed a sports shoe for a Rugby World Cup team.

Today we put it together with an action selfe.
Some of us worked quickly and did a vector drawing of the uniform and added the team colours.
Can you tell which countries the uniforms are for?

RUGBY WORLD CUP 2019

Today was the kick off for our Rugby World Cup 2019 in Turanganui. All of our learning for the remainder of the term is based around this Global Event. The entire hub has been sorted into Countries which our students then have to research, complete and compete in a range of challenges and tasks. A snapshot here shows some of our students creating a RWC Logo Mash-Up using their countries flag, flower and animal. Great work so far Turanganui.

Science Fair 2019

Earlier this week we held our Annual School Science Fair. This was a great opportunity for our learners to express their learning in many different ways. Their were many fantastic experiments and findings on display. Please click on our other students blogs and check out what they are sharing.

Turanganui - Awa Kaitiakitanga

Turanganui Awa Kaitiakitanga with EIT this morning. Setting up our Awa with new plants. Soraya from EIT has been teaching us about Carbon and Nitrogen make up and what is the best composition in the soil for our plants. Students have also been making observations on the bird wildlife and the ongoing changes that our planting will make to their habitat.

Waka Hourua Orientation

Turanganui has started the next part of our Early Settlers Inquiry.Experienced based learning takes on on board  the Waka Hourua. Turanganui has been split into 5 groups who are all spending an hour and a half learning about the Waka Hourua. The plan is to first learn safety and basic sailing vocab before having the opportunity to sail themselves on open water. An awesome environment for learning that connects to our inquiry of 'Early Settlers' and many other opportunities that arise. A highlight for me was the teamwork and leadership displayed, and the amount of engagement and enjoyment each and every one of our tamariki had. Thanks to Chris and Emma for your amazing day of teaching and learning.

Tupapa Heritage Trails

This term Turanganui are learning through experience.
The Tupapa Walkway Sites are the first of many learning opportunities we are experiencing for our Early Settlers Inquiry. On this excursion Turanganui took in the Oneroa Walkway to listen to stories about European arrival, the Tribe's that already called it home and other important historical points in time.
Time was given to create a piece of writing describing the arrival form one of two perspectives, either the Maori witnessing the arrival of the Endeavour into the Bay, or what the European's thoughts were as Young Nick sighted the White Cliffs.
